Wednesdays in Den Burg are all about the Summer Market. In the shopping street and on the square, you will find all kinds of stalls selling regional products, Texel crafts, clothing, and souvenirs. Experience Texel’s fishing industry up close during this unique village festival filled with fish, stories, live music, and a lively atmosphere at the harbor.

The end of summer doesn’t go unnoticed in De Koog! At various cafés on Dorpsstraat, you can enjoy live performances and DJs in a tropical atmosphere. Caribbean music, reggaeton, or Dutch music: there’s something for everyone. Hours: At the cafés Onder de Pomp and Bistro 110, the music festival kicks off at 5:00 p.m. on both days. At the other participating venues, the event starts at 10:00 p.m. Tickets are available at www.txtickets.nl and at the clothing store De Kolonist in De Koog. During the event, you can purchase tickets at the box office on Dorpsstraat, across from the Primera.

Who will win the Bronze Texelaar (for the best one-year-old ewe)? Which older ram will be crowned champion, and which breeders will produce the top ten ram lambs? We’ll find out on the first Monday in September, when the Texel Sheep Breeding Day is held at the Groeneplaats. It’s up to the judges to select the best animals. The judging begins in the morning and continues into the afternoon. In anticipation of this, breeders will open the doors to their farms on Saturday and Sunday.

Do you know how fish is traditionally smoked? You can see it up close in Oosterend during the annual Strender fish-smoking contest featuring gurnard and sole. Every smoker has their own secret method. Fish is sold, there’s music, and fishing films are shown. Admission is free.

No less than three days of Texel Blues Festival in almost all restaurants and bars in Den Burg during this 37th edition. Blues musicians from home and abroad play on small stages throughout Den Burg. Every year, enthusiasts eagerly await Texel Blues, where they can enjoy their favorite music in the cafés. It is a glorious weekend in which artists play their hearts out and celebrate conviviality.
